Customer Challenge
With several family members at home throughout the day, this household had seen electricity consumption steadily increase over recent years. Coupled with ongoing rises in energy prices, the homeowners wanted to take greater control of their energy costs while reducing their reliance on the grid.
Their goal wasn’t simply to generate solar electricity during daylight hours, they also wanted to store excess energy for use in the evenings and maximise savings during the winter months by charging the battery on an off-peak electricity tariff.
Although the detached bungalow benefits from a south-east facing tiled roof, nearby trees meant careful system design was essential to ensure shading wouldn’t impact the overall performance of the installation.
GLANtech Solar Solution
After receiving several quotations, the customer chose GLANtech Solar following a recommendation from their neighbour, who had already trusted us with their own installation.
Unlike another company that proposed significantly higher costs due to the need for optimisers, we explained exactly why they were required and designed a system that delivered maximum performance without unnecessary expense.
The installation included 12 AIKO 470W Dual Glass solar panels, providing a total system size of 5.64kW, alongside a Fox ESS H1-5.0-E-G2 hybrid inverter and a Fox ESS EP12 battery storage system.
To overcome the effects of partial shading from nearby trees, we installed Tigo optimisers, allowing each affected panel to perform independently and helping maintain optimum system output throughout the day. A discreet bird protection system was also fitted to safeguard the installation for years to come.
Every aspect of the installation was completed by our qualified MCS-certified team, ensuring a neat finish and long-term reliability.
The Outcome
The completed system is expected to generate approximately 3,600kWh of renewable electricity each year, delivering estimated annual savings of around £1,239.
The addition of battery storage means the family can continue powering their home after sunset using electricity generated during the day, while also benefiting from lower-cost off-peak charging during the winter months. This significantly reduces dependence on imported electricity and provides greater protection against future energy price rises.
Performance has already exceeded expectations. While the design software predicted an average daily generation of 21.2kWh during June, the system had already generated 24.1kWh by just 2:38pm on one summer’s day, highlighting the excellent real-world performance of the installation.
The customer, N. Jonas, was delighted with both the installation and the service received, rewarding GLANtech Solar with a 5-star Google Review and praising the professionalism of the team.
