Solar Panels

Renewable Energy for a Sustainable East Norwich.

The Benefits of Solar PV

Solar panels help you generate your own electricity, reduce household energy costs and create a more efficient, future-ready home.

Generate Your Own Electricity

Solar panels convert daylight into usable electricity, helping to power your home and reduce the amount of energy you need to buy from the grid.

Store and Use Energy Smarter

Battery storage can be added now or later, allowing you to store surplus daytime electricity for use in the evening or to help charge an electric vehicle.

Lower Your Energy Bills

The more solar electricity you generate and use yourself, the less you may need to purchase from your energy supplier, giving you greater control over household costs.

Build a More Efficient Home

Solar PV can reduce your carbon footprint, improve your property’s appeal and provide a strong foundation for future technologies such as smart energy systems and EV charging.

Let's experience the power of the sun.

Solar panels are one of the most effective ways to reduce your energy bills and your carbon footprint at the same time. We design and install systems tailored to your property across Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.

Did You Know?

Solar Power Works Better Than You Might Think

Solar panels can generate reliable renewable electricity throughout the year, with minimal maintenance and the flexibility to expand your home energy system over time.

Effective in UK Weather

Solar panels generate electricity from daylight, not just direct sunshine, so they continue working on cloudy days. Cooler temperatures can also help panels operate efficiently.

Built for Long-Term Performance

A typical solar PV system can generate electricity for 25 years or more and is designed to withstand changing UK weather. Battery storage or an EV charger can also be added later.

Common Questions

Solar PV FAQs

Find answers to common questions about solar PV systems, installation, energy savings, maintenance and ongoing performance.

This is probably the question we're asked more than any other, and it's easy to see why. We all know the British weather isn't famous for endless sunshine!

The good news is that solar panels don't need bright sunshine to work, they need daylight.

A simple way to think about it is a day at the beach.  Even when it's cloudy, you can still come home with sunburn because the sun's rays are still getting through.  Solar panels work in much the same way.  They continue generating electricity on cloudy days, they just produce more when the sun is shining brightly.

A well-designed solar PV system can reduce your electricity bills throughout the year, and with energy prices changing so often, generating your own power gives you far more control over what you spend.  Every home is different, so we design each system around your roof, your family's electricity usage and your future plans to make sure you get the best possible return on your investment.

Asking how much solar panels cost is a bit like asking how much a new kitchen cost. The answer depends on the size of your home, the products you choose and what you want the system to achieve.

Some households simply want to lower their electricity bills, some want to maximise the Smart Export Guarantee rates (SEG) while others want battery storage or an EV charger included as part of a complete home energy system.

Rather than selling fixed packages, we design every installation to suit your property. During your survey, we'll explain exactly how much electricity your system is expected to generate, how much you could save each year and how long it may take to pay for itself.

Our aim isn't to sell you the biggest system possible, it's to recommend the right system for your home and your budget.

Yes, they do.

One of the biggest myths about solar energy is that the panels stop working when the weather turns cloudy.  If that were true, hardly anyone in the UK would have them!

Think about when you hang washing outside. Even on an overcast day, your clothes still dry because there's still warmth and daylight.  Solar panels work in a similar way.  They continue producing electricity whenever there's daylight, although naturally they'll generate more on bright sunny days.

That's why solar has become such a popular choice across the UK.  Even with our changing seasons, a professionally designed system can produce a significant amount of electricity over the course of a year.

There's no one size fits all answer because every home will use electricity differently.

Imagine buying shoes.  A size 10 might fit one person perfectly but be completely wrong for someone else.  Solar works the same way.

A family with two electric cars and battery storage will need a different system from a retired couple who spend most of the day out.

When we visit your home, we'll look at your electricity usage, roof size, roof direction, available space and any future plans, such as buying an electric vehicle or adding battery storage later.

That allows us to design a system that's properly matched to your needs instead of simply filling every available space with panels.

The amount you save depends on how much electricity you use and, just as importantly, when you use it.

Think of it like growing vegetables in your own garden.  Every tomato you grow yourself is one less you need to buy from the supermarket.  Solar works in much the same way. Every unit of electricity your panels generate is electricity you don't have to buy from your energy supplier.

If you're at home during the day or combine your solar panels with battery storage, you can use even more of the electricity you generate, increasing your savings.

During your quotation, we'll provide realistic estimates based on your own home rather than unrealistic figures designed to make a sale.

Solar panels are built to last for decades.

Think about your roof, you expect it to protect your home for many years with very little maintenance.  Solar panels are designed with that same long-term reliability in mind.

Most quality panels come with warranties of around 25+ years, but they'll often continue producing electricity well beyond that.  Like most technology, they may lose a small amount of efficiency over time, but this happens gradually rather than all at once.

At GLANtech Solar, we only install products from trusted manufacturers that we've chosen for their quality, reliability and long-term performance.

Very little.

People often imagine they'll need to climb onto the roof every few months, but that's rarely the case.

It's a bit like the roof tiles on your house.  Apart from the occasional inspection, you probably don't give them much thought because the rain naturally helps keep them clean.

Solar panels are similar.  The angle of the roof and regular rainfall usually wash away most dirt and dust.  It's worth keeping an eye out for things like heavy bird mess or leaves, but for most homeowners there's very little maintenance involved.

We'll also show you how to monitor your system using an app so you can quickly see how much electricity it's producing.

In most cases, no.

Installing solar panels is generally considered a home improvement rather than a major building project.

It's much like replacing your windows or installing a new front door.  Most homeowners can have solar panels fitted without needing planning permission.

There are exceptions, such as listed buildings or homes within certain conservation areas, but if that's the case, we'll explain everything before work begins.

Part of our job is making sure your installation meets all current regulations, so you don't need to worry about navigating the paperwork on your own.

While no one can guarantee exactly how much a property may increase in value, many buyers are attracted to homes with lower running costs and improved energy efficiency.

Think about buying a car.  If two identical cars were for sale at the same price but one used much less fuel, most people would naturally be interested in the cheaper one to run.

Homes are no different.

As energy prices continue to rise, having your own renewable energy system can make your property more attractive to future buyers, especially when combined with battery storage or an EV charger.

Even if you aren't planning to move anytime soon, you'll still benefit from the lower electricity bills while you're living there.

Choosing a solar installer isn't just about comparing prices, it's about choosing a company you trust to look after your home.

It's a bit like choosing a builder.  The cheapest quote isn't always the best value if corners are cut or poor-quality materials are used.

At GLANtech Solar, we believe in doing things properly from the very beginning.  That means taking the time to understand your home, designing a system that's right for your needs and installing quality equipment that we would be happy to have on our own homes.

We won't pressure you into buying the biggest system or overwhelm you with technical jargon.  Instead, we'll explain everything in plain English, answer every question honestly and make sure you feel confident before making any decision.

Our goal is simple, to provide reliable solar PV installations that help homeowners and businesses reduce their energy bills, become less dependent on the grid and enjoy the benefits of renewable energy for many years to come.

Monitor your solar system from anywhere, at any time.

Knowing exactly how much energy your solar panels are generating gives you real control over your household energy use. Our solar monitoring app lets you track your system performance, energy output and savings in real time, straight from your phone.

GLANtech SOLAR sets up your monitoring app as part of every installation, so from day one you have full visibility of how your system is performing and how much money it is putting back in your pocket.
