Customer Challenge

Having previously owned a property in London with solar panels, the homeowners already understood the long term benefits of generating their own electricity.  After moving to their detached bungalow in Clacton-on-Sea, installing solar quickly became one of the first improvements they wanted to make.

Although their household electricity usage was fairly typical, they were increasingly concerned about rising energy prices and wanted to protect themselves against future increases.  They were also planning ahead, with the intention of owning an electric vehicle and ensuring their home was ready for changing energy demands in the years ahead.

With a large, unused tiled roof offering excellent space for solar panels, the opportunity was there to create a high performance system capable of meeting both current and future energy needs.

GLANtech Solar Solution

Rather than simply installing a standard solar PV system, we designed a complete smart energy solution tailored around the customer’s lifestyle and future plans.

The installation features 18 AIKO 485W All Black solar panels, delivering a total system capacity of 8.73kW, paired with a Sigenergy 10kW hybrid inverter.  To maximise self-consumption, we installed a 15.04kWh Sigenergy battery storage system, combining a 9.04kWh battery with an additional 6kWh battery module.

The system was completed with a Sigenergy AC EV Charger, all managed through the intuitive Sigenergy monitoring app.  This allows the homeowners to monitor solar generation, battery performance, household consumption and EV charging from a single platform.

The customer chose GLANtech Solar because of the time and care we invested during the design process.  We visited the property, answered every question in detail and explained the advantages of different products and system configurations without applying sales pressure.  Unlike some companies that relied solely on video consultations or promoted a single manufacturer regardless of the customer’s needs, we focused on designing a solution that was genuinely right for the home and its future requirements.

The Outcome

The finished installation has given the homeowners complete control over how they generate, store and use their electricity.

The large battery capacity stores excess solar energy generated during the day, allowing it to power the home well into the evening and reducing reliance on expensive electricity imported from the grid.  With their electric vehicle now charged directly from surplus solar generation whenever possible, running costs have fallen even further while making full use of the renewable energy produced on site.

Following installation, we carried out our usual aftercare to ensure everything was performing as expected.  The homeowners were delighted with the finished system and commented on how impressed they were with both the installation process and the support they received throughout the project.  They particularly appreciated the confidence of knowing their home is now prepared for future energy needs while remaining protected against rising electricity prices.
